Gathering together in nature's beauty
Gatherings: A Seed Sisters Exhibition
Dr. Neil’s Garden, Edinburgh, Scotland
August 9 – 15, 2025
Among the crowds of August’s Fringe Festival overtaking the small, medieval city of Edinburgh, Seed Sisters Art Collective presented a group exhibition at Dr. Neil’s Garden, a venue on the outskirts of the city, behind the dormant volcano cone known as Arthur’s Seat, in the little village of Duddingston.
Each member of the group presented 6 total paintings as well as a small selection of prints, works on paper, or collages.
We gathered together from across the globe. In attendance at the reception was Ingrid Bell (Scotland), Ann Stephens (France and England), and Julia Rymer (Colorado, United States). Makiko Beri of Japan presented several of her works as well.
Thomson Tower is the venue on the garden grounds, and is a former curling center, where old stones and brooms that were used in curling competitions are stored. Its octagonal shape and brilliant light commend it as an exhibition space.
Hundreds of people visited the show as they enjoyed the beauty of the gardens and a cup of tea on their way to and from hiking nearby Crow Hill at Arthur’s Seat or wandering around the village.
